ELLIOTT LONG RACING

|
Elliott Long Racing started in a garage attached to my residence in 1990. I read an article in CYCLE magazine about the 'Speedway Racing' taking place in Southern California. What a crazy idea - could racing so thrilling take place in Oregon? And the challenge began! | ||||

I contacted Bill Cody of Cody Racing and ask if he needed a Dealer in the State of Oregon and he said "Yes". I now had access to speedway bikes and maintenance parts. I was the only Dealer in the Northwest United States. Speedway racing had it's ups and downs with the rise and fall of the Hillsboro Race Track. The speedway racers returned to the Rainer Wa. and Thurston Cty ORV Park for exhibition racing as before. The Clark County Arena was the venue used in the Winter months until it was closed. The best track (1999) was at Pat's Acres in Canby, Oregon. After a fantastic 1999 race program and crowning our Division 1 champion Mike Marr Jr., the track was closed. The year is now 2009 and I have first-hand knowledge that a 'legal' decomposed granite Speedway Track will be built and operational by Spring of 2010 at PIR in Portland, Oregon. All of the Oregon/Washington speedway racers need to uncover those dusty speedway bikes and prepare them for the "Spring Opener".
